ADT UK - backing up business for Fujikura Europe
ADT UK Limited implements Microsoft Hyper-V-based disaster recovery solution at Fujikura Europe Limited
18 January, 2012
Fujikura Europe Limited, one of the world's leading manufacturers of communication and electronics products has agreed to work with Advanced Digital Technology UK to implement a major disaster recovery solution. The deal reinforces Fujikura’s existing disaster recovery and places it firmly at the cutting edge of technology.
Established in 1988, The company has grown considerably in the last ten years and now occupies a 14,000 sq. ft site in Surrey which houses the company's European sales administrative offices, technical support centre and service repair workshops.
Despite running a comprehensive disaster recovery solution, the organisations’ exchange solution was struck down by a number of issue’s simultaneously and subsequently the email ability failed.
“With our head office based in Japan, much of our business is conducted electronically, via email. Different time zones also result in much of our business taking place during the night. Therefore, when we arrived at the office one morning to no overnight emails it was instantly apparent that something was not right”, explains Ashim Bhaugeerutty, IT Manager, Fujikura Europe Limited.
The technical communication between the UK and the Japanese head quarters is vital in the ordering process. Purchase orders are raised in the UK and emailed to head office. The shipment is then dispatched to the customer directly from Japan. Any issue affecting this ordering process is detrimental to the business.
“We have a vast amount of historical data stored electronically which we can require access to at any given time. Protecting this and ensuring minimal downtime is essential. As our Sage Line 500 support partner we have a very good, longstanding relationship with ADT and so we had total confidence in working together to implement such a major solution”.
“I worked alongside ADT investigating a number of options and determining what would work best for us to offer the greatest level of security and resilience. ADT was able to offer hosted or on-premise solutions and each deployment route was explored thoroughly. In the end we found the best fit to be an on-premise solution”.
Fujikura’s Microsoft Hyper-V-based disaster recovery solution consists of 2 servers with synchronisation, 2 large capacity backup tape drives and a full monitoring system based at ADT, offering an outstanding level of disaster recovery. Furthermore, should Fujikura upgrade to Sage 1000 there will be no requirement for additional hardware expenditure as Sage 1000 runs in Hyper V.
Ashim Bhaugeerutty concludes, “The disaster recovery solution from ADT offers a far greater level of resilience across the business and presents us with the long term security that we were looking for. Working on this project with ADT has strengthened the existing level of trust between our companies and I am confident that we now have the best possible disaster recovery solution in place for the foreseeable future.”
ADT’s technical services team can offer a review of existing backup and recovery systems as well as the design and implementation of new systems appropriate for your business needs. These will range from a well structured tape backup strategy through to failover servers with up to date data mirroring.
